Fibroblast Growth Factor 2
A single-chain polypeptide growth factor that plays a significant role in the process of wound healing and is a potent inducer of angiogenesis. The growth factor is an extremely potent inducer of DNA synthesis in a variety of cell types from mesoderm and neuroectoderm lineages. It was originally named basic fibroblast growth factor based upon its chemical properties and to distinguish it from acidic fibroblast growth factor. Recombinant Zebrafish (Danio rerio) FGF-b (FGF-2) is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain. Activity assayed in human fibroblasts and human ES cells. Zebrafish bFGF is widely used for human ESC maintenance.

Sterile Filtered white lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
The protein was lyophilized from a volatile solution after reverse phase chromatography.
Centrifuge vial before opening. When reconstituting the product, gently pipet and wash down the sides of the vial to ensure full recovery of the protein into solution. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized product with sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml, which can be further diluted into other aqueous solutions.
Lyophilized product is very stable at -20°C. Reconstituted material should be aliquoted and frozen at -20°C. It is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.

UV spectroscopy at 280 nm. Analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.
Stem Cell Activity
Supported maintenance of human pluripotent cells at a concentration of 4 ng/ml.
