EVlution TFF System
Product description
EVlution™ TFF System — Scalable Exosome and EV Purification by Tangential Flow Filtration
EVlution™ is a compact benchtop tangential flow filtration (TFF) instrument that provides efficient size-dependent concentration and purification of biomolecules, including extracellular vesicles (EVs). EVlution utilizes the innovative Switch Flow™ system to generate sub-10 ml samples from large starting volumes.
Developed and supported by scientists with decades of experience in separation technology, EVlution™ TFF provides an effective method of size-based separation of biomolecules, whilst minimizing membrane fouling. The innovative characteristics of EVlution™ design make it an excellent choice for workflows at the lab scale, supporting a wide range of hollow fiber filter configurations. EVlution™ simplifies complex filtration processes while delivering reliable performance.
For concentrating extracellular vesicles (EVs), 300 or 500 kDa MWCO cartridges are recommended.
EVlutionTM System includes everything required to perform TFF isolation:
- The EVlution stand
- The EVlution pump
- A 94cm2 cartridge. Choose from 1 kDa to 1000 kDa
- A set of syringes
- A set of tubing and valves
- All accessories (mounting clips and pressure gauge housing)

Product attributes
Hollow fibre technology. EVlution uses hollow fibre filter cartridges to provide the low-shear, laminar flow environment that extracellular vesicles need. This preserves vesicle integrity and biological function, giving you confidence that what you isolate faithfully represents what was in your sample.
Innovative Switch Flow™ for the smallest output volumes. The ability to switch from circulated to reversible retentate flow enables a final retentate volume below 10 ml
Fully displaceable sample contact surfaces. By incorporating a disposable syringe-based pressure gauge, we have made all surfaces that the sample flows through disposable, allowing easy maintenance.
Genuinely affordable. EVlution is accessible to research groups, core facilities and teaching laboratories.
Compact benchtop footprint. With dimensions of just 21 × 26.5 cm and a weight of 2.7 kg, EVlution takes up less bench space than a standard laboratory balance. It requires no dedicated infrastructure - just plug in and go.
Flexible filter configurations. The adaptable design supports a range of hollow fibre cartridges from 1 kDa or 1000 kDa MWCO options, along with different cartridge sizes (94 cm² and 260 cm² membrane area). This allows you to match the system to your specific application, up to 3 litres.
Simple, intuitive operation. EVlution has been designed for ease of use. Researchers can set up and run a TFF process without extensive training or bioprocessing expertise. The streamlined workflow lowers the barrier to adoption and reduces the risk of operator error.
Proven protein removal performance for EV processing. EVlution significantly reduces the concentration of free proteins in the retentate during EV concentration, as shown by BCA protein assay, while NTA particle tracking confirms efficient recovery of EV particles. This dual evidence of concentration and purification in a single step saves time and reduces sample handling.
Part of a complete EV workflow. Cell Guidance Systems offers a comprehensive EV product portfolio including Exo-spin™ SEC columns, ExoLISA™ assays, validated EV antibodies, purified reference exosomes, and NTA profiling services. EVlution integrates seamlessly as the front-end concentration and initial purification step in a multi-stage workflow — for example, TFF followed by Exo-spin SEC for high-purity exosome isolation.
Backed by EV expertise. Cell Guidance Systems is a specialist in extracellular vesicle research tools. When you purchase EVlution, you gain access to a team with deep knowledge of EV biology and purification who can advise on protocol optimisation and troubleshooting.

Why Choose TFF for EV Isolation?
As EV research scales up — from pilot experiments to functional studies, preclinical work, or process development — ultracentrifugation quickly becomes the bottleneck. It processes small volumes at a time, requires long sequential runs, and the repeated high gravitational forces can damage vesicle structure and introduce protein aggregates that compromise downstream analysis. For labs regularly working with conditioned media or biofluids at volumes above 50 ml, it simply doesn't hold up.
Tangential flow filtration takes a fundamentally different approach. Rather than forcing the entire sample through a membrane, TFF recirculates the sample parallel to the filter surface, continuously sweeping it clean and preventing fouling. This makes it possible to concentrate and diafilter large volumes in a single continuous run — removing free proteins and small molecules while keeping vesicles intact and in suspension throughout.
EVlution™ processes up to 1 litre of starting material in 90 minutes, generating a concentrated retentate of less than 10 ml via the Switch Flow™ system. Protein removal is confirmed by BCA assay, and EV recovery is tracked by NTA particle analysis — giving researchers measurable confidence in both purity and yield from each run.
EVlution™ is designed to integrate directly into a two-step workflow: TFF concentration and initial purification, followed by Exo-spin™ SEC columns for high-purity polishing. Together, the two systems cover the full range from large-volume conditioned media processing down to the final clean preparation needed for proteomics, RNA analysis, or functional assays.
Sample to EV workflow
EVlution is part of a complete workflow for the isolation of EVs. After EVlution, additional EV purification, if needed, can be achieved with Exo-spin SEC columns
