Induced proliferation of CTLL-2 cells assay for Human IL-2. Cell proliferation was measured to calculate the ED50, which is as expected less than 3 ng/ml.

Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is an immunomodulatory cytokine that is produced by lymphocytes. IL-2 signals through the IL-2R receptor to induce activated T cell proliferation and promote T cell differentiation. IL-2 also stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of B cells, Natural Killer cells, monocytes, and macrophages.

Activity Assay

Human IL-2 (Animal-Free) is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The activity is determined by the ability to induce CTLL-2 cells proliferation and it is typically less than 3 ng/ml. This corresponds to an expected specific activity of 3.3 x 105 units/mg.
