DescriptionThrombopoietin (TPO) is a growth factor that is produced by liver and kidney tissues. TPO binds the TPO receptor (CD110) to promote megakaryocyte maturation, differentiation, and the production of platelets.
Activity AssayHuman TPO is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The activity is determined by the ability to induce MO7e cells proliferation and it is typically less than 15 ng/ml. This corresponds to an expected specific activity of 6.7 x 104 units/mg.
