Recombinant Mouse IL-6
Induced proliferation of B9 cells for Mouse IL-6. Cell proliferation was measured to calculate the ED50, which is as expected less than 50 pg/ml.
Non-reducing (-) and reducing (+) conditions in a 4 - 20% Tris-Glycine gel stained with Coomassie Blue. 1 μg of protein was loaded in each lane. Mouse IL-6 has a predicted Mw of 21.9 kDa.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a cytokine that is expressed by T cells, macrophages, and muscle cells. IL-6 acts to stimulate an immune response upon infection or trauma. IL-6 has both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory functions and signals through the cell-surface type 1 cytokine receptor complex containing the IL-6Ra and gp130 chains. Human IL-6 is active on mouse and rat cells.Activity Assay
Mouse IL-6 is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The activity is determined by the ability to induce B9 cells proliferation and it is typically less than 50 pg/ml. This corresponds to an expected specific activity of 2 x 107 units/mg.AA Sequence
